Guiding Philosophy

CPIT strives to provide an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all students. Staff in Disability Services are committed to supporting students to have a positive educational experience at CPIT.

Disability Services is guided by CPIT's values statement which includes an emphasis on:

  • Respect: act in ways which recognise and value all people and their diversity.
  • Access: provide equitable access and minimise barriers to learning opportunities.
  • Learning: provide opportunities, activities, procedures and processes to produce a positive experience contributing to personal achievement and success.
  • integrity: act so that practices and decisions are open, honest and fair.
  • Responsiveness: have a commitment to operate with flexibility and respect.
  • Partnership: honour the Treaty of Waitangi and develop the relationship with Mana Whenua.

Disability Services also takes account of CPIT's Kaupapa which includes these guidelines:

  • Manaakitanga: respect all, work with confidence, openness, equity and sensitivity.
  • Mana Atua: make a positive contribution to the inner strength of students, whanau and communities.
  • Matauranga: provide accessible learning opportunities for personal growth, achievement, and vocational success, fostering ability to learn independently.
