Copyright for Staff

CPIT pays for an annual license with Copyright Licensing Limited (CLL), which extends the provisions of the Copyright Act 1994. CPIT staff are permitted to copy extracts from books and periodical articles within limits specified by the license for educational purposes.

We have a PMCA (Print Media Copyright Agency) licence which allows CPIT staff to copy, fax, scan and distrubute certain newspaper articles for educational purposes.

License fees are based on the number of EFTS, and a periodic sampling survey is carried out to determine what is being copied. This information is then used to allocate license fees back to copyright owners.

Infringement of copyright is a serious matter that could lead to civil or criminal action against an individual and CPIT, and/or disciplinary action against an employee.
