Liaison Librarians

Four Liaison Librarian positions have been created to strengthen the Library’s relationship with faculties, working closely with Learning Services in the promotion of Library and information resources, and providing research support for academic staff. Each Liaison Librarian holds a Masters degree or Post-graduate Diploma, and is responsible for a specific Faculty. 

Who is your Liaison Librarian?

Cathy Peck  Faculty of Health, Humanities and Science including Medical Imaging, Midwifery, Foundation and Education 

Naomi Shaw  Faculty of Commerce including Food & Hospitality, Business and Computing 

Meg Upjohn  Faculty of Creative Industries including Art & design, Broadcasting, Architectural Studies, Performing Arts and Hairdressing and Te Puna Wanaka

Bill Hood   Trades Innovation Institute  & School of Engineering

For academic staff your Liaison Librarian is your key point of contact with the Library, they will provide advice on the purchase and promotion of new resources, both digital and print. Working on the information desk in the library, they also provide information and reference services to students, and so can provide useful feedback on student use of resources, and they offer a range of services to assist staff with their research.

What Faculty support can we provide?

  • Selecting and purchasing faculty and course-specific Library resources, including all required reading, recommended texts , dvd’s, books and journals (both print and electronic)
  • Training in the use of electronic tools and resources 
  • Preparing lessons and materials to teach information skills and academic skills in classes as needed, in the context of students’ studies 
  • Research support and information services for faculty staff engaged on research conditions
